We are excited to open applications for a place in the West Sussex Jamboree Unit, which will represent the UK at the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk, Poland, from 30th July to 9th August 2027. This once-in-a-lifetime adventure will bring together over 30,000 Scouts from around the world to share fun, friendship, and adventure.

Who can apply?
- You must be born between 31st July 2009 and 30th July 2013.
- You must be an active member of UK Scouting now and through to the event.
- Crawley Scouts has 2–3 spaces available for participants.
What are we looking for?
There’s no such thing as a “perfect” Jamboree participant – we’re looking for a mix of young people who are ready to:
- Be part of a team – listen, support others, and work together.
- Try new things – even if they feel scary at first.
- Be open-minded – meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Get stuck in – from cooking to putting up tents to joining activities.
- Grow – challenge yourself, build resilience, and bring back new skills and confidence.
What’s the selection process?
- Application Form – submitted online by 19th September 2025.
From the applications, up to 20 young people will be invited to the selection weekend, where we will be looking at qualities such as teamwork, resilience, open-mindedness, commitment, and enthusiasm.
- Selection Weekend – 11th–12th October 2025 at Beacon Hill Campsite, Colgate (£15 fee payable in advance via BACS, compulsory attendance to be selected).
- Interview – with you and a parent/carer, between 13th to 19th October.
What will it involve if selected?
- Training weekends and team-building activities (6–10 before departure).
- Fundraising for your place (expected cost: £3,000–£4,000, covering main event costs).
- Representing Crawley, West Sussex, and the UK internationally.
- Living the Jamboree theme – “Bravely” – inspiring young people to act courageously for the future of humanity and the planet.
